JennAir ranges

JennAir range and stove repair, standard and commercial-style

On a JennAir range, an F2E1 code can simply mean a grate is seated wrong. Rock each one, swap or turn any that wobbles, then cycle the power. We repair JennAir gas, electric and commercial-style ranges on Oahu.

Demo screens

Why does my JennAir range say Try the Product?

Because it is in demo mode, which shows off features without heating anything. Some JennAir ranges ship with it, and the display gives it away with lines such as "Try the Product," "View Product Video" or "Showroom Mode." A range in this state can look completely dead to the person cooking on it. The fix is a settings change, not a part. If none of those words are on the screen and the range still will not heat, then it is a real fault.

Gas on Oahu

Is a gas JennAir range on piped gas or propane?

It depends on where the house sits. A 2021 fact sheet from the University of Hawaii's natural energy institute counted about 70,000 residential and commercial gas customers across the state, with almost half of them on the Oahu utility system. Homes on those pipes burn utility gas. Homes away from them run propane from a tank. Tell us which one feeds your JennAir before the visit, since it shapes what we check at the burners and the oven.

Codes and screens

No, the commercial-style ranges carry their own F1E0 through F9E0 set, while standard ranges use families from F0 to F9 plus FB, FC and FE.
Then the grates are probably not the cause. Try JennAir's general first fix: breaker off for one minute, back on, then watch the display for another minute. If the code returns, note when it appears and book a visit.
No. It shows features and plays its screens, but nothing gets hot.
Yes, on ranges with reignition. A steady draft can blow the flame out often enough that the igniter keeps sparking to relight it, and a low setting makes that more likely. Wind through an open lanai door counts too. Close the door or raise the flame a little; if the clicking carries on in still air, call us.
No. On gas models it starts about five minutes into preheat, even on plain Bake, while electric models start it at once.

Burners, fans and safety

The convection fan is designed to stop whenever the door opens.
Check the date. A 2011 CPSC staff report dates the stronger UL range stability test to June 3, 1991, so a range built before then predates it. Old or new, make sure the anti-tip bracket is hooked after the range has been pulled out for cleaning or a repair.
Often not. On a new or reconnected commercial-style range, open one burner for a moment to push air out of the line, and make sure the main gas valve is on.
No, the igniters need a solid ground path to spark, so the cord belongs in a grounded 120V outlet, never a two-prong adapter or an extension cord.
Standard or commercial-style, utility gas, propane or electric, the full code, and the model number from the oven frame or storage drawer frame (the oven ceiling on commercial-style models). Say whether the cooktop, the oven or both act up. If only the gas oven fails, our gas oven page covers the first checks.
