JennAir and Jenn-Air repair, downdraft to dishwasher

The brand's parent company credits Lou Jenn with the first downdraft range sold under the name, and dates that work to 1965. We repair JennAir cooktops, ranges, wall ovens, dishwashers and refrigerators in Oahu homes and condos.

Where it started

Why can a JennAir cooktop work with no hood above it?

Because the vent pulls cooking vapor down at the cooktop, so nothing has to hang overhead. That downdraft idea is the thread through the whole brand. It is still moving, too. In 2025 the company announced a partnership with BORA to bring induction downdraft cooktops to JennAir and KitchenAid in North America, citing roughly 62% growth in induction cooktops since 2018. On a repair visit this matters. The blower sits under the counter, so a downdraft unit gets checked from below as well as from the top.

Model tags

Where JennAir puts the model and serial tag

A clear photo of the tag tells us the exact model before we arrive. JennAir places it somewhere different on nearly every appliance.

What to gather for a JennAir repair

1

Tag

Photograph the model and serial tag from the table above. It settles the exact design, the parts and any recall in one look.

2

Code

JennAir cooking appliances report faults in an F#E# or E#F# pattern. Write the full pair down before anything gets reset.

3

Date

Find the purchase date. JennAir describes its limited warranty as typically one year, varying by appliance type, with exact terms in the manual.

4

Booking

Call or send the form with the tag photo, the code and what the appliance is doing. We tell you plainly if the fix sounds simple.

01

The brand

Whirlpool Corporation, which also runs the Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag and Amana brands.
Because the sister brands share one parent, and many of their troubleshooting articles use the same wording. A general step can read identically across all of them. What separates a JennAir repair is the model tag, the code pattern, the downdraft hardware on cooktops and the recall history, so those are what we look at first.
Same brand either way: older CPSC recall notices print Jenn-Air with a hyphen, while the maker's help site now writes JennAir as one word.
Yes. To read the model number, take the drawer out, since JennAir mounts the rating plate above the left slide where it cannot be seen with the drawer in place.
JennAir's own FAQ says the limited warranty typically runs one year from purchase, though the term varies by appliance type and the exact wording sits in the owner's manual for your model. Check the date on your receipt first. If it is close, settle the warranty question before booking a paid repair. Our page on warranty repairs explains how to check, and repair or replace helps once the term is over.

Warranty, codes and care

It is the brand's fault code format for cooking appliances, an F number paired with an E number, sometimes shown the other way round as E#F#. Each appliance page covers the codes JennAir explains.
No. JennAir says black or fingerprint-resistant stainless should never get abrasive cleaners. For plain stainless it suggests warm soapy water on a nonabrasive sponge, then a dry microfiber cloth.
Compare the model and serial on the tag with the CPSC notice for that product. The table above lists the recall years by appliance, and each JennAir page here gives the model details CPSC published.
Under the counter, in a fan housing below the cooktop.
Gas, electric and induction cooktops with or without a downdraft vent, standard and commercial-style ranges, single, double and combination wall ovens, warming drawers, built-in dishwashers, and refrigerators from French door and side-by-side models to built-ins and columns, ice makers included.
