ASKO dishwashers

ASKO dishwasher repair

ASKO suggests feeding its dishwasher from the hot line when a house heats water with solar, district or geothermal energy, since it shortens cycles. Gas or electric water heat calls for cold. We fix both setups on Oahu.

ASKO behaviors that look like faults

ASKO builds several guards into its dishwashers, and each changes how a fault shows itself. For causes shared by every brand, use the problem pages linked below.

Stops with water showing

Aqua Detect watches the motor compartment and reacts to a leak at once, so a stop can mean water below.

Trips while switched off

Standby leak detection keeps working while the machine is off, so it can react with no cycle running.

Drain pump hums

Anti Block is a self-cleaning drain pump. A hum with standing water points past it, to the hose or sink.

Door pops open

Turbo Combi Drying releases the door at the end on purpose. That is the drying step, not a broken latch.

Cord feels hot

On a D5 series model, check the 2019 recall first. The cord was the named hazard.

Tub empties mid-wash

ASKO fits its own anti-siphon device. If water still drains out early, the hose route deserves a look.

CPSC records

Is your ASKO dishwasher in a recall?

Only if it belongs to the D5 series of 2019 or the older DW95 series. On September 26, 2019, ASKO recalled about 26,600 US dishwashers, plus about 4,300 in Canada, because the power cord could overheat. Fifteen D5 models were named by serial range, among them D5426XLS and D5656XXLHS/PH, sold October 2016 through July 2019, after 53 reports and no injuries. On June 14, 2007, about 130,000 DW95 units such as models 1355, 1475 and 1885, built January 1995 through April 2000, were recalled after 21 reports of fires.

Fit and hookup

Try the left side of the door opening, where the 2019 CPSC notice puts the D5 model and serial numbers.
Yes. Because ASKO builds an anti-siphon device into the machine, the hose may run lower than the base, for example to a floor drain in a raised install, without emptying the tub mid-cycle.
Most non-XXL models can, by removing top trim to drop into a 32 1/4 inch opening. The tall-tub XXL models cannot be used in ADA installs. The standard indoor opening is 23 5/8 by 34 1/2 by 24 inches.
Only the outdoor model needs one; on indoor units ASKO says a GFCI may interrupt operation.
No. ASKO says never to reuse old inlet hoses, and to set a drip tray under the machine. Before the unit is screwed into the cabinet, its Rinse and hold program should run so every joint can be watched as it fills, drains and holds water. Skip it and a slow drip can hide in the cabinet.

Build and recalls

It is ASKO's name for key parts made of stainless steel. The same sheet lists a hidden heater and a self-cleaning program, but it covers an export model, so trust the names more than the specs.
Yes. CPSC said an electrical part could overheat and counted 21 reports of fires.
Read the model and serial on the left side of the door opening and compare them with the serial ranges in the CPSC notice. Fifteen D5 models were covered, sold from October 2016 through July 2019. If yours is listed, use the recall remedy before paying for any repair on the cord or power supply.
Every ENERGY STAR listed ASKO finishes by releasing its door automatically, so no heated dry is involved.
It ships with 5 feet of corrugated hose. Extensions must keep at least a 1/2 inch inside diameter at every join.
