Every Thermador Freedom column carries a compressor and evaporator of its own, with the Freeflow cold air system, so a fresh food column and a freezer column beside it can fail separately. We repair them, plus Thermador ice makers.
What does the Thermador sealed system warranty pay for after year two?
Parts and labor through year six, then parts alone through year twelve. The parts named are the compressor, evaporator, condenser, dryer/strainer and the tubing that joins them. Everything else on the unit falls back to the owner once the 2-year full term ends. So when a column stops cooling at year four, the age of the unit decides a great deal of the bill. A photo of the rating plate settles that age before anything is opened.
Thermador ice maker or column acting up?
Run through these six before booking, because several are setup issues, not broken parts. Thermador publishes no refrigerator error code list in the sources we read, so these signs follow how built-in fridges and ice makers behave generally.
Small, hollow cubes
Low house pressure shortens each timed fill, so the mold never fills. The supply line comes before the ice maker.
Bin reads full
A scoop or a bag left in the bin can pass for ice, and a raised feeler arm pauses production.
Saddle valve feed
A self-piercing saddle valve often leaves too small a hole. A valve set in a drilled 1/4 inch hole flows better.
Panels beading water
Common in a damp kitchen with no air conditioning, but torn gaskets or tight cabinet gaps also cause it.
Water under the column
An inlet valve can stick open. Shut the supply, then dry the floor within 24 to 48 hours to head off mold.
Dead ice maker
If the door dispenser still pours, a frozen fill tube is possible. Confirming it means pulling the ice maker out.

Is salt rust on Thermador stainless covered?
Rust that eats all the way through is. Thermador gives built-in refrigerators lifetime parts coverage for rust-through of the stainless door and the inner liner. Surface rust is a separate question for Thermador itself. The University of Hawaii's corrosion lab points out that corrosion needs moisture, and that indoor humidity kept under 60 percent slows it down. A shut-up house in a damp windward valley gives that moisture time to work. Air conditioning or a dehumidifier keeps it in check.
