Sub-Zero refrigerator repair, side by side
A Classic Sub-Zero ships set to 38°F in the refrigerator and 0°F in the freezer. In Auto mode its drawers sit 2° under the fridge setting and never drop below 34°F. When those numbers wander, we come out anywhere on Oahu.

What is your Sub-Zero trying to tell you?
Most of the time it is a display word or one warm compartment. These six are specific to how a Sub-Zero fridge is built. For causes any refrigerator shares, see why a refrigerator stops cooling.
Vacuum Condenser flashing
The control is pointing at a dusty condenser. Clean it, then give temperatures a day to recover.
Service on the display
If temperatures stay off for 24 hours after cleaning, or the alert returns, the maker calls it a repair.
Snooze/Refresh prompt
The air purification cartridge on the back wall is due. It lasts about one year.
Filter light comes early
The reminder estimates gallons from how long the water valve stays open, so heavy dispenser use trips it sooner.
Drawers all wrong
Every refrigerator drawer shares one setting. Manual mode allows 2° either way, bounded by 34°F and 42°F.
One side warm only
With two separate systems, a warm fresh food side and a solid freezer point at that one side.
Two sealed systems, one cabinet
Sub-Zero runs the fresh food side and the freezer side as separate refrigeration systems. The maker's reasons: steadier temperature and humidity, no fridge odors drifting into frozen food or ice, and a fresh food side that does not dry out. For a repair, that layout changes the first question. A warm freezer under a cold fridge, or the reverse, usually narrows the fault to one system instead of a shared one. Those sealed parts carry five years of full coverage, then limited parts coverage to year twelve.
