Speed Queen dryers

Speed Queen dryer repair, gas or electric

Speed Queen's Pet Hair Remover runs 10 minutes with no heat at all, pushing a large volume of air from back to front to carry hair into the lint filter. Cold air on that cycle is normal. We repair Speed Queen dryers across Oahu when the heat is missing elsewhere.

2025 changes

Why does a newer DR3 look different from the old one?

A newer DR3 looks different because Speed Queen rebuilt it in 2025. The older DR3003 had no moisture sensor, no extended tumble and three preset cycles. The DR3004 adds a moisture sensor, extended tumble, a status display and four presets: sanitize, auto-sensing, a 60-minute and a 30-minute timed dry. The DC5003 became the DC5004 the same year, picking up Pet Plus, steam boost, steam refresh, a moisture sensor and six presets in place of four. On both, the old timer dials gave way to knob-driven electronic controls, so the part list changed too.

Cycles and settings

Clean the lint filter, since that is where the hair ends up.
Speed Queen credits an axial airflow design that moves a large volume of air from back to front. The default anti-static option adds short steam pulses near the end to free hair stuck to the lifters and the drum walls.
That is Over-Dry Protection doing its job. The dryer stops heating at a set dryness level, then runs a cool-down borrowed from the brand's commercial machines so the load is not over-dried. If the drum stays hot through that stretch, or the cool-down never ends, book a check.
The highest heat setting and a timed dry of at least 75 minutes for the 99.9 percent bacteria claim. The DR7 adds a steam sanitize option on top of that.
Only if it is a DR3004. The earlier DR3003 dried by time alone, so damp or over-dried loads on that model point to settings and timing rather than a failed sensor.

Both figures are Speed Queen's. The catalog lists a 7.0 cubic foot cylinder for every current consumer model, the DR3, DR5, DR7, DC5, DF7 and the dryer half of the SF7 stack, while the ENERGY STAR listings rate the drum at 6.9 cubic feet. Expect to see either number on paperwork for the same dryer.
Confirm the gas supply is on, clean the lint filter, then work through our dryer not heating page before booking.
Yes, including the SF7 stacked washer-dryer. Our condo appliance repair page explains how tight closets and building rules shape that kind of visit.
No. The DC5004 swapped the old timer dial for knob-driven electronic controls, so read the full model number before ordering any control part.
