Samsung washer repair

When a Samsung washer shows 4C2, 4E2 or CE, its cold supply is running very hot. That is a reversed hose at the wall. Swap the two lines back and the code goes, with no part needed.

Why a Samsung front loader starts to smell

Samsung names three usual odor causes: a badly set drain hose, detergent buildup, and laundry left sitting wet. The fixes are owner jobs. Prop the door and the detergent drawer open to dry, use HE detergent at the right dose, skip liquid fabric softener, keep the machine level, and push the drain hose no more than 6 inches into the standpipe so dirty water cannot siphon back. Most Hawaii homes have no central AC. A shut, wet drum dries slowly here.

What the Samsung display is telling you

Samsung often prints the same fault in an E form and a C form. These six groups cover most calls. For the generic causes behind a washer that will not drain or spin, follow the links further down.

4C, 4E or nF

Water is not getting in. Check hot to hot, cold to cold, open valves and inlet screens. Samsung rules out Flood Safe hoses.

5C or 5E

No drain. Samsung says not to remove the screw that holds the drain hose to the back of the washer.

1E, LE or LC

Water level or leak detection. Too many suds from excess or non-HE detergent can set it off.

Ur versus UE

Ur is the washer adding water and rebalancing on its own. UE or Ub means it gave up and stopped.

Cb calibration

The drum rocks back and forth for 1 to 3 minutes to relearn weight. Empty drum only; normally done at installation.

dn download

A software update locks the controls for about 15 minutes. Past 30 minutes on good Wi-Fi, it needs service.

Closet installs

How much room a Samsung top loader needs

Samsung's sheet for the WA45N3050AW asks for 1 inch at each side, 6 inches behind and 21 inches above. A closet that holds the washer and dryer together needs at least 72 square inches of open air area in its door. Many Oahu condos tuck laundry into exactly that kind of closet. When a washer there knocks against the walls, we measure the spacing before any part is blamed.

Self Clean and odor

About 1 hour on a top loader and about 4 hours on a front loader.
Only when there is mold or a mildew smell, and then into the detergent compartment, never the bleach compartment.
On most models it sits low on the front behind a small panel. Samsung ties a neglected filter to odors. Lay a towel and a shallow pan down before you open it, because the water left in the line comes out with the filter.
Samsung says even Cold cycles may call for some hot water, so the hot line has to stay connected or a fill code can appear.
Yes. Samsung lists a level machine among its odor fixes, since a tilted washer leaves water behind after it drains.

Codes, setup and recall

Read the model and serial from the two labels on the back of the machine and check them against the CPSC notice. The recall named top loaders with mid or rear controls sold from March 2011 to November 2016. A front loader is not part of it. If your machine is on the list, the recall remedy comes before any repair.
Its spec sheet lists 240 kWh a year, an IMEF of 1.57 and an IWF of 6.50.
Yes, stacked and closet units included; tell us the floor and the parking setup when you book.
No. Samsung claims 40% less vibration than its standard VRT on the WA45N3050AW, which is a reduction, not silence. A Samsung that still walks across the floor usually has a load, leveling or suspension problem. Our washer not spinning page covers the suspension side, and a level check is the first thing to try at home.
EPA says water from a leak should be dried within 24 to 48 hours to keep mold from starting, which matters more in a humid Oahu home.
