LG washing machine repair
When an LG washer detects too many suds, it adds a suds-reducing routine that can stretch the cycle by about 2 hours. A wash that runs long may be a detergent dose, not a broken part.

LG washer codes and who fixes them
LG publishes its washer codes in its US help library. These five rows cover the fill, level and door faults we see most.
| Code | What LG says it means | Owner can fix? | First check | Call a technician when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IE | Water supply problem | Often | Tap open, hose not kinked, inlet filter clean, pressure | Supply checks out and it still will not fill |
| FE | Overfilling, usually a faulty water valve | No | Turn the taps off | Right away |
| PE | Water level sensor problem | Rarely | Note when in the cycle it appears | It repeats |
| dE1 | Door open and not locked | Sometimes | Clothing caught in the door | The door is shut and the code stays |
| dE2 | Door closed but not locking | Rarely | Hinge sag from weight on an open door | The lock never engages |

The SideKick pedestal and the E7 code
LG's SideKick is a small pedestal washer that sits under an LG front loader. It has rules. Its drain must not rise higher than 53 inches from the floor. It must never go under a dryer. And if it was not installed correctly under the front loader, the display shows E7. That code points to the install, not to a failed part, so we check the stacking and the drain height before opening either machine.
LG front loader versus top loader
| Item | WM3575 front loader | WT5480 top loader |
|---|---|---|
| Top spin speed | 1,300 rpm | 1,100 rpm |
| Power | 120V, 10 amps | 120V, 10 amps |
| What UE means | At the end of a cycle, clothes may still be too wet | A small uE means it is rebalancing itself, up to three tries; UE with a pause means rearrange the load |
