LG fridges

LG refrigerator and fridge repair

On an LG refrigerator, CH flags a refrigerant leak on the high-pressure side and CL one on the low side. LG raises them when temperature and compressor sensor readings stop matching. Both are sealed-system work.

Six LG fridge codes and what sets them off

The general reasons any fridge runs warm live on our not cooling page. These are LG's own codes, with the trigger LG publishes for each. Some are faults. Two groups are not.

CF, FF, rF, IF

Condenser, freezer, fridge and ice fan faults. LG says a blocked fan makes the compressor overwork and the cabinet warm.

dH defrost

The defrost sensor failed to warm by more than 5°C within 80 minutes, which can leave the evaporator iced.

FU cycle

The freezer was still above 3.5°C ten minutes after start-up, or climbed past it later in use.

gF water flow

A closed valve, a kinked line or the wrong pressure is starving the ice maker.

IS and It

The ice maker's temperature sensor and its motor. Not the same as IF, which is the ice fan.

Lo, HI, demo

Not faults. The room is below -10°C or above +50°C, or showroom demo mode has turned cooling off.

Hardware

LG fridge features we check

LG's French door models carry hardware other fridges do not, so a fault often starts at one of these parts.

Cooling faults

Usually, though it is sealed-system work: the leak has to be found and closed before the system is recharged. On the LFXS30796D the sealed system carries seven years of coverage, so check the purchase date first.
Press Freezer Temperature and Express Frz together for 3 seconds.
Use LG's paper test. Close the door on a sheet of paper and pull: it should resist. A sheet that slides out freely points to a worn or misaligned gasket, which can let the freezer run warm enough to raise FU. On Door-in-Door models, test the inner door and the outer section separately.
Up to 5 minutes before it is fully running again, according to LG.
A front section opens to reach drinks and snacks without opening the main cabinet. LG claims up to 47% less cold-air loss than opening one French door for 10 seconds.

Doors, ice and filters

LG lists the LT1000P as the water filter for that French door model.
On the LFXS30796D, 4.5 lbs a day, or 4.9 with IcePlus. It stores 3.0 plus 4.0 lbs with the extra bin.
Make sure demo mode is off, since it shuts cooling down; past that, the causes match any fridge and our not cooling page ranks them.
Often. The LFXS30796D is rated at 784 kWh a year, and EIA estimated Hawaii's 2023 average home power bill as the highest of any state. An efficient unit with a sound compressor is usually worth keeping. A fan or sensor fault rarely changes that math, while a sealed-system leak on an old unit might. The repair or replace guide walks through it.
No, IF is the ice maker fan; IS and It belong to the ice maker's sensor and motor.
