LG oven and range repair
On an LG electric range, F-9 has a hard number behind it: the oven could not climb past 150°F within 5 minutes of preheating. LG points to a shorted element or a faulty relay board.

Six LG oven codes and what LG ties them to
Most LG range codes start with F and a number. Why any oven runs cold or hot is covered on our oven pages. These are LG's own meanings, from its US code list and its help library.
F1, F2, F4, F5
Thermistor errors. F1 and F2 belong to the upper oven sensor, F4 and F5 to the lower oven.
F3 key short
A key reads as stuck pressed. LG notes the short may sit in the wire harness, not the key pad.
F6, F9, F19
Heating errors. F9 is an upper oven that is not heating properly, F19 an oven heating error.
F7 and F17
Convection fan faults. On LG's list F7 is the upper convection fan.
F10 and F20
Door locking system failures, F10 on the upper oven and F20 on the lower. Both follow the same reset steps.
HS, Sb, PF
Not faults. A cooktop above 150°F, Sabbath mode, or a break in power to the range.

LG ranges and where they differ
Three current LG ranges show how differently gas and electric models are built, and so where a fault tends to start.
| Model | Fuel and oven | Top | Power need | Where we look first |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LREL6325 | Electric, 6.3 cu. ft., True Convection | Radiant, triple element at 3,000W, dual UltraHeat at 3,200W | 40 Amp minimum circuit, 14-50R or 10-50R receptacle | Bake and broil elements, relay board, F9 |
| LSGL6337F | Gas slide-in, 6.3 cu. ft., ProBake Convection, Air Sous Vide | Five sealed burners, 22,000 BTU UltraHeat Plus on natural gas | Gas plus a 120V cord | Igniter, convection fan, tilt-control knobs |
| LRGL5823 | Gas freestanding, 5.8 cu. ft., fan convection | 20,000 BTU UltraHeat burner | 120V 60Hz, 15 Amp minimum circuit | Hot surface igniter, gas valve, LP conversion |
Two CPSC recalls name LG ranges
In November 2012 LG recalled about 161,000 electric ranges, models LRE30451, LRE30453, LRE30755, LRE30757 and LRE30955ST, because burners could stay on after being switched off. LG had 80 reports and no fires. The fix was a free in-home repair. The 2025 knob recall is newer and bigger, covering slide-in and freestanding electric models such as the LSEL6337 and LDE4411. CPSC counted at least 86 reports of knobs turned on by accident. Its remedy is a warning label plus the Control Lock or Lock Out feature. Check the model label first, on the drawer or inside the oven door.
