Bosch dishwasher repair

Watch the floor in front of a Bosch dishwasher. A steady red dot means it is running; a blinking one flags a problem. If the toe kick sits forward, that light stays hidden.

Which Bosch code is on the display?

Most two-digit Bosch codes fall into the six groups below, and each one points at a single area of the machine. Many clear after the breaker is off for 30 seconds. A code that comes straight back needs hands on the part.

E15, base water

Water has reached the base pan and the leak guard tripped. Close the supply valve before anything else.

E16 to E18

Too little water arrives. Look for a kinked inlet hose or a half-shut valve; Bosch wants 10 liters a minute.

E22 to E25

The drain side: a packed filter, a jammed pump, a loose pump cover or a disposal knockout plug never removed.

E07 or E10

The CrystalDry fan or its heater has a fault. Check first that no bowl sits over the zeolite vent.

E27, low power

Newer screens show E9001. The house supply is too low, so a repeat after a reset is an electrician's call.

H01 shown

Not a fault at all. It means someone is setting the delay-start timer.

E23, E24, E25

How to reach the Bosch drain pump yourself

The pump hides under the filter set in the floor of the tub. Pull the filters out first. Then, as Bosch describes it, slip a spoon under the pump cover and lever it until it clicks loose, tip it up and draw it toward you. Sponge out the standing water and whatever jammed the impeller. Go slowly. Broken glass often ends up here. If the cover will not seat again or the code returns, the pump itself is the likely suspect.

Lights, beeps and codes

Bosch ties three beeps to water collecting in the base, the same condition behind E15.
Most often the door is not latched. Push it firmly until it catches, then press start again. If it still will not run, Bosch's general reset is to cut the power, wait about 1 minute, restore it and run a short cycle with the racks empty. A latch that never catches is a part, and our dishwasher will not start page walks through the other causes.
Dishes are blocking the zeolite intake, so move whatever sits against the vent and run it again.
The heating element has scale on it, and the SHX78DC5N manual says to descale the machine. On the same newer displays, E:32-00 points to a closed supply valve or a kinked hose, and E:30-00 or E:31-00 means the water protection has stepped in.
A container of zeolite, a mineral, soaks up moisture during drying and releases heat as it does. A fan blows that heat back through the tub. It only works when the intake and outlet are clear, so tall pans or a cutting board leaned against the vent can leave a wet load and set off a drying code. PureDry and AutoAir are the other two Bosch drying systems.

Care, labels and recall

Turn the coarse filter counterclockwise and lift; the fine and micro filters come up with it. Rinse all three under the tap and lock the set back in clockwise. Bosch says to glance at it for residue after each wash.
Inside the door, so open it fully and photograph the E-Nr. and FD numbers there.

The 2017 expansion added SHE33T, SHE53T, SHE65T, SHP53T, SHV53T, SHX53T and others. A match means the recall remedy comes before any paid repair.
Yes, for life, as parts: rust-through of the inner tub and the stainless door is covered. Electronics and racks get parts-only cover in years 2 to 5. Labor after the first year is the owner's.
It is listed at 120 V, 60 Hz and 1440 W on a 12 A fuse, and it takes water from 7.25 to 145 psi.
