Perlick fridge repair under the counter

Perlick's G5 refrigerators have a Quick Cool mode that chills a fresh restock 20 percent faster than a standard pull-down. When a G5, Signature or C-Series unit stops holding temperature, we repair it in Oahu kitchens, bars and lanais.

Restart routine

Bringing a Perlick back after a shutdown

1

Vacuum

Take the front grille off and check and vacuum the condensing unit. Perlick lists this before power goes back on.

2

Power on

Restore power. Signature Series models also have a master switch behind the grille, so check that it is on too.

3

Wait

Let the unit run empty for 24 hours so the temperature settles before any bottles or food go in.

4

Check

If it still reads warm after that day, note the display and the model number, then book a visit.

No winter here

Does an outdoor Perlick need winterizing on Oahu?

Not for the cold. Perlick suggests shutting an outdoor refrigerator down once daily lows reach 38°F, and only about 6 F separates Honolulu's warmest and coolest months. The catch is cleaning. On the mainland, that shutdown is also when owners vacuum the condensing unit. A lanai unit here runs all year, through about 31.6 days a year at 90 F or above at the airport, so the condenser never gets that seasonal clean unless someone schedules it.

Why does Perlick use stainless interiors?

Perlick uses stainless interiors because, it says, they hold temperature steadily and avoid the pitting, warping and odor problems of plastic liners. The G5 LUXE goes furthest, with 300-series stainless inside and out, shelves included. For a repair, that shifts the questions. With the liner itself built to last, a warm Perlick points us toward cooling, airflow, controls or the door seal, and the age of the unit alone is a weak reason to replace it.

01

Using a Perlick

Yes, and Perlick says running an outdoor model inside does not void the warranty.
Perlick part 63716-1, which the maker supplies through its own technical service line.
Up to 75 lbs each. The shelves are vinyl-coated and extend all the way out, and the rails adjust in one-inch steps. If a shelf drags or tilts, check that both rails sit at the same step before calling. A damaged shelf is ordered by model number.
Use the front-access leveling legs. Perlick built them so the unit never has to be tipped to adjust.
Most G5 models are ENERGY STAR rated, by the maker's own listing. Check the exact model before counting on it.

Faults and coverage

The touchscreen runs the controls and the diagnostics, and the unit adds Smart Monitoring and Smart Defrost, which adapt to how it is used and where it stands. Photograph whatever the screen shows before you power anything off. That photo, with the model number, often tells us which part to bring, and it keeps a fault from vanishing on a restart.
Six years of parts and labor, plus 30 days of initial quality coverage.
No. Perlick's shutdown steps are to switch it off, empty it, take off the front grille, vacuum the condensing unit and leave it uncovered.
When daily lows reach 45°F. Beverage centers stop at 42°F, refrigerators at 38°F and freezers at 32°F, figures that rarely matter at sea level here.
Check for a touchscreen. G5 units use one for controls and diagnostics, while Signature models have color-adjustable LED lighting and a master switch behind the grille.
