Electrolux refrigerator repair on Oahu
An Electrolux fridge flashing E8 or E9 beside 33°F has lost track of a temperature sensor. On the IQ-Touch control it then holds its factory setting, so food stays cold while the sensor waits for a repair.

What is your Electrolux display saying?
| Display | What Electrolux means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| E8 or E9 | A temperature sensor problem; the control falls back to its factory setting | Book a sensor check; the alarm can be silenced meanwhile |
| E7 | A key has read as pressed for longer than 30 seconds | Look for something leaning on the panel; if not, the keypad needs testing |
| Power Fail with hours shown | An outage let the cabinet pass 55ºF; the display shows how long | Use the hours and temperature to decide what food to keep |
| HI or High Temp | Freezer at 26°F or above, or fridge at 55°F or above | Check the door is shut and the gasket seals, then see refrigerator not cooling |
| DI SP | Ice jammed in the chute | Thaw and empty the bin; cubes often refreeze around the auger after little use |
| SY CF, SY CE, SY EF, OP, SH; Er CE, Er T1 to Er T6 | Codes Electrolux treats as a service matter | Note the code and book a visit |
Why can an Electrolux fridge stop on a GFCI outlet?
Because Electrolux wants it on its own non-GFCI outlet, and lists a ground fault circuit as a reason the refrigerator does not run. The 2010 guide asks for a dedicated 115 Volt, 60 Hz receptacle with no extension cord or adapter. Current support adds a 15 or 20 amp breaker or time-delay fuse. Voltage matters too. Electrolux says swings of 10% or more can harm the compressor, and that kind of damage falls outside the warranty. In an older Oahu condo with shared kitchen circuits, we check the outlet before condemning the fridge.
Does Oahu's damp air put more frost in an Electrolux?
It can. Electrolux's own troubleshooting lists hot, humid weather as a reason frost builds faster and walls get wet inside. Windward lowland humidity here typically runs about 70 to 80 percent, so every door opening lets in damp air. A level cabinet helps: Electrolux says an unlevel fridge can misalign the door, spoiling the seal and causing frost or moisture. Its French door sheet asks for a slight backward tilt of ¼ inch so the doors swing shut. Persistent ice on the back wall is a different job, covered on our frost buildup page.
